Just a tiny clay "sketch" I made awhile ago of an archaeopteryx-type flying therapod...in my head, I call him the "micro-raptor" because he's a teeny raptor, but he's not actually *a* microraptor. I wanted to practice making simple things (without wires) and also very tiny things. He even has tiny tiny "fingers" on his wings but you can scarcely see them. This is about as small as I can go...at this size, small errors start looking really big relative to the scale of the sculpture.
He's made of sculpey with glass eyes, painted in acrylics, and sealed with a matte varnish. His markings aren't modeled on the bluejay, but blue and white are an awesome color combo.
Oh my goodness, this is so adorable...! If prehistoric birds looked like this and were this size--well, maybe that wouldn't be a good thing, but still, this is precious
