This was actually my first attempt at a felted oriental dragon last year, which got misplaced in a move before it was finished. I finally found it and after a lot of reworking it's been saved! I actually like this one's style better.

She's made of three different white wools, since I didn't plan ahead very well and started with textile/wool blend that had too much frizz, then layered a plain white wool on top that wasn't a bright enough white to go with those albino eyes, and finally a last layer of a soft white angora/wool blend. The tail fan is white felt topped with peach wool. The horns, arms and feet are made of apoxie sculpt, painted with acrylics, and sealed with many layers of Golden brand Soft-Gel medium. She is set with albino glass eyes and has wires running all through her body to make her gently posable.

Needle felting, to summarize briefly, is a technique used to create what are essentially 'wool sculptures'. There's no sewing involved; instead, by punching the raw wool thousands of times with special barbed needles, you transform it into felt, and can control the shape of the felt.
