Felted Blue Oriental collage

Okay, I finally got around to putting some more pics of this guy together. ^_^;; I wish I'd gotten a good front shot because that's the only way to really see the ears, but none of them came out right.

Needle felting, to summarize briefly, is a technique used to create what are essentially 'wool sculptures'. There's no sewing involved; instead, by punching the raw wool thousands of times with special barbed needles, you transform it into felt, and can control the shape of the felt.

He's made from a very soft blue wool and set with green glass eyes, with yellow-orange wool for the tail fan. A thin wire runs through most of his body and through his arms and legs making them gently posable. His horns, arms, and feet are made out of apoxie sculpt, then painted in acrylic and sealed with varnish.
